Muffler to Heater Box Cnnection.

I just replaced the muffler on my new 73 vertable. The connection to the heater boxes is not the greatest. Two one inch or so clamp bands complete the connection. I still have some gaps there. Doe's anyone have a good solution make a good seal? Thanks!

One of my bugs , someone has used fire proof rope/cord sort of stuff. Like you get on cast iron log burner/stove doors etc. It seems to do the trick.

A more crude way is to use exhaust paste, but that causes problems later on if you want to take it apart again.

You could consider exaust wrap or cut up a fire blanket.

I weld flanges on both pipe ends there which then accept a standard exhaust gasket. Zero leaks, easy to take apart. I can do that without taking anything out of the car, just did that the other day on a customer car in an hour, taking my time. (I don't charge by the hour)

Wrap the connections with thin shim stock and put a hose clamp on each end. I did mine that way after reading a post here by Bob Hoover and it made a big difference in the heater airflow.
