The Drive that wasn't

I was reading Hot VWs around 9pm on Saturday night, and after reading about all those nice cars, I decided to take a short drive. Since I don't have a working generator, I had to use the jumper cables to get it started. I hooked them up and it fired right up. I unhooked the cables, and got in the car, flipped on the lights and backed out of the driveway. Oops forgot that the battary was the only thing making the lights work. They went dim to an illumination of less than a 6 volt car pretty quickly, so I did not get very far. Took a couple of pictures since I was finished reading HVW and did not get to go for a drive.

First one. dim lights. Look kinda yellow

I have a new Bosch 12 volt generator that came with the new engine for the bus. I am using the alternator from the old one so I don't need it. If you need one, e-mail me. Dennis

Hi Dennis:

I appreciate it, but I really don't have any cash to throw into the VW right now. It had a good run for a while. I got the engine rebuilt 2 years ago, and did not have anything go wrong with the car since then until the generator started acting up. Bill Berckman

I just did a generator and regulator on my 70 bug. I got a new solid state regulator, and a new bosch generator.
