Superwinch = junk

Ok. I will accept what you are telling me since you all seem to be so certain. However I do not understand why this would be the case. It would actually seem logical to expect the opposite. Think of a ten speed bicycle. The bike is hardest to pedal when the chain is on the smallest diameter gears. I would think it would be the same with a winch. On the outer layers of cable you have a bit more diameter.

The guy wouldn't believe anyone when they told him that power locks won't fit in the doors and now he refuses to believe everyone when we explain he bought an ATV winch instead of a Jeep winch...

It's a pretty simple game ... read the manual, talk to the salesman, ask questions of those that know ... BEFORE you buy. Advertising can be deceiving (imagine that) and misleading (really) ... take some time to investigate before you drop your hard earned $$ on anything.

The manual for your winch clearly states it's capacity.

joshua, that is absolutely an unfair representation of this group. _you_ were in error, others responded to explain it to you, and then you responded exclaiming that the voice of experience is wrong. you have to expect resistance to that sort of thing.

on the other hand, this is a very forgiving group. kick back and listen to the advice youre being given and eventually youll understand what it is that you still seem to be missing. i live in the same town that you do. lets get together for some wheeling, id be glad to show you first hand in real life how a winch works and why your reasoning does not. when we're done however, beer is on you. :-)

Ya I made one snarky remark a bit ago that I probably shouldn't have, but otherwise I have posted serious answers, well this one is just silly, but a reality.

thats really odd. i tested it outside my LAN and have no problems pulling it up.

You can modify the open differentials so that they are fully locked, and all tires turn the same speed all the time regardless of traction, but then all you will do is burn out more 4500 pound winches. If you think you got stuck with open diffs, you haven't seen stuck yet!

You're exactly right. That's the flaw in the open differential 4x4 systems. Just when you need it most, it quits! (I *hate* it when that happens...)

Your bike is hardest to pedal when the chain is on the smallest REAR sprocket.

Your winch is like your legs. Your winch/legs are connected to the FRONT sprocket of a bicycle. The smaller diameter FRONT sprocket gives you more power, but less speed. A larger FRONT sprocket gives you much less pulling power. Each wrap of the cable on a winch drum = a larger diameter FRONT sprocket.

ive never seen the warn version, although milemarker has a free video they will mail you on winch comparisons (vhs/dvd/cd rom). theyre trying to promote the milemarker winch but if you look at all the data, it almost looks like they were trying to promote the ramsey instead.

only took me about 4 days to get it too.
