Yes, you're correct, but I wasn't going that far into it. I used to be an entry level C++ programmer before the dot-com crash. I worked in the Borland C++ Builder environment.

careful with that strap. they are no where near the strength of a tree saver, and all the energy that you are storing up in 20+ feet of nylon web is enough to do considerable damage... not to mention the snatch block/cable recoiling into your jeep/face/body when (and it will happen) the strap breaks.

When I use my strap as a tree saver, I wrap the tree with it so there is only a couple feet of strap coming away from the tree. I then use both loops so in effect have 60,000 lb. of hold.

One foot, if the line wasn't doubled back to the vehicle. If it was, they'd need two feet of line to move the load one foot. Similar to a reduction gear with a 2:1 ratio.

If they had a second snatch block on the recovered vehicle with the line going back to the tree, then they would have a 2:1 ratio.

Think block and tackle....

The more pulleys, the more reduction and more you can lift easily, but you have to have the pulley as an other end of the circuit, not just an angle changer.

Or use it to change the angle of the pull if you don't have a direct line of sight to the anchor point.

it's a 2:1 ratio, since the cable is hooked back on the driving force (truck) the snatch block is not a simple re-vector of the force, since it is going back to the truck. If the cable went though the block, then to another tree it would be acting as a force vectoring point. Then, and only then would it be a 1:1 ratio.

Really? Some of the steepest, toughest hills I've mastered had no rocks, but plenty of loose dirt.

Why would you compare a Cherokee that was modified enought to carry 44s with a stock TJ that has a locker as the only option?

You said you would rather have a 2WD Cherokee with 44s than a TJ with lockers and stock tires. The differences in these two options is like the difference in a fine steak and a Costco hot dog. The hot dog from Costco is the best dog you will find anywhere, but it is still a far cry from any steak. And, why on earth would anybody dream of putting 44s on a 2WD Cherokee?
