Looking for off-road training/hire

Dec 02, 2003 2 Replies

Friends from Aus are thinking of coming to the UK next year for a holiday and he has asked if he could get to drive my Landy (but it's an old S111) to compare it with the usual Toyota Ute's he drives all over Aus in. Have suggested it might be better if he tried a newer Defender with the TD5 engine. Anyone know of a place reasonably near here (Staines) that does off-roading where you can hire a newish Defender to try?

Got into this because I have always said a Crewcab chassis fitted out for long distance bush travel would be ideal for his purpose, and much better than those Toyota Landcruiser Ute's. I might add, he normally fits out his own vehicles, extra fuel tanks, large stainless water tanks, special back with shelving and fridge for tinnies and cooker, roof tent, solar panel.........the lot!

Regards Bob

Thanks, didn't know about these. Seems the one due for the South East isn't running yet so it would be the Chilterns one that is the nearest. Wonder how much it costs? I'll leave it to them to find out. :-)
