That moving the thing around the country thing...

So we need to get the bear to post his mobile number :)

Seriously though it might be a good idea to take it as it comes and maybe arrange the change over's at the local/nearest LR dealership.

Returning to the subject of keeping a log/photo album, I think we should get every dealer who participates to sign the log with the exact amount of donation they made. This might serve to shame the next dealer into outdoing the previous :)

Whatever, we need to keep a photographic log for a website which I'm prepared to take on (The web site I mean) if nobody else want's the job.

Know the feeling well. Running my Son to school one bright warm Summers day he put his Mini Disk player on the dash and the first left turn I came to it slid straight across the dash and out the window and didn't even touch the sides... Cost me a new Mini Disk but he's never put anything on there since. I'm glad I have my Garmin tethered down :)

That isn't a bad idea. At least everybody would have one contact number that they could call to arrange handovers etc. I will look into gettig a cheep second hand phone to pack him off with, pay as you go type .

..and a charger, and a bag to keep them in...

Again, not wanting to pre-empt whatever develops here, I'd like to just mention my long held belief that we can occasionally view progress in terms of our ability to complicate simplicity... :-)

Maybe keeping it simple, usenet and email based will reduce the number of potential hassles?

No, I already got one I could donate. It's only an old Nokia 5110 but it works fine and it'll serve the purpose.

I can post it to the first person on the list and the last can post it back.

I think we should stop all this brainstorming and start getting a few solid idea's written down. For example:

A list of participants, their location, the location of all the main dealers that will contribute.

First off I think we need a list of all the dealers that will participate. That way the route this Teddy is going to take can be worked out. This requires someone to compile a list of dealers which means writing to them all, getting confirmation and plotting them on whatever route is to be used.

This then need's to be published somewhere so that we can all see it and work out what part of the route each person can cover.

Of course, getting individual sponsorship would be up to the individual :)

Well PT is starting from here, South Somerset. Now wether he go's down to Cornwall to start his "official" journey or stars it officialy from here I don't know. I would like him to start from here and then pass him onto somebody else to continue, for no other reason that I am selfish. Obviously popular vote decides where the start is. I am well out of my depth as regarding this idea having not a clue how to organise such an event and I am glad that "The Bright Ones" seam to know what is what.

It would be nice for PT to visit as many shows and dealers as possable as well as club/ pub meets as if this all kicks off lots of people might want to meet him. His journey should also take in landmarks like (all bow and face East) Solihull and try to get him into the most important Landrovers left in Britain not owned by me.

Tell me when to send him off and I will contact the local press for his send off or the first handover.

Deep in the heart of darkest Somerset along a dusty dirt track, two aged Land Rovers bump towards each other. Stopping a fue length apart a man gets out of each vehicle and, glancing around nerviosly opproach each other. Coats pulled up and hats pulled down to prevent recognition the pair meet

" You got the gear"

" Yeh I got it"

"you got the log"

"Yeh I got the log"

"Give me me the package"

The package passed the men move apart towars there Land Rovers, suddenly one turns round and shouts across the empty space

'By PT, good luck on your holls"

the other man raises the package and PT waves goodby.

Deep in the heart of darkest Somerset along a dusty dirt track, two aged Land Rovers bump away from each other.

How about a Flextel number

formatting link
that you just point at whoevers got the bear? When someone gets the bear they can redirect the number themselves, or email (or phone) the admin team, who can do this. (Flextel numbers can be dirverted from any phone, or on the web, and most are free to get) Jon

Don't know, but I've got one of those Britax rear facing rock-a-bye carseats

- fully adjustable seatbelt for the safe carriage of babies and bears of course. Can have it with pleasure. There would be room for log-book in it too and a mobile if he has one.

But if it's rear facing the view out won't be as good.

Provided it is only used for the transport of Posh Ted, you could strap it in so it faced forward, so that it didn't fly off the seat when you brake.

I also have one of those back pack baby carriers in the cupboard under the stairs - which is also available depending on Posh Teds size. Got pockets on it for carrying around the junk associated with small children.
