'03 Corolla console removal

Greetings newsgroup,

I've got a 2003 Corolla Ce, 4 dr sedan and I need to repair the little plastic door for the compartment on the center console. Can someone advise on how to pop that baby off so I can remove the door? I checked for a book by Chilton but they don't publish one for this year/model.

Thanks for any help. Bob O.

Why would you do it - the car still on warranty?

Other advice, ask a dealer repair shop. They have computer terminals connected to Toyota network and can get any repair info available. Some dealers will help, some would not. Worth taking a chance.

It is also possible, fixing this "simple" thing is more work than you think.

Car has an extended warranty but that is not covered, of course. Took it to the dealer, the door can't be replaced alone, the whole compartment needs to be replaced (that's the way it comes) and they wanted $179 just for the part. Labor would've put it well over $200. What's broken is the "pin" where it hinges on the left side. If I can get the door out I can just hotglue that pin and it should be fine. It's worth 30 minutes of work to do. I'm an electronic repair tech myself, and when someone comes in and asks me to tell them how to fix something I tell them no, so I'm not comfortable going to any repair shop and asking them to show me how to do it.

Thanks for the feedback. Bob O.
