Hot direct to the starter?

Do you heat your home with wood or coal and sleep with the dogs on cold nights?

I have removed Ford Starter Solenoids.............Or if you wish, heavy duty relay................This is not a recommended "fix" for it draws , under the right conditions as much as the original VW starter sometimes.

...........And I once had this issue when dressed nice, and out on a date. RUINED the shirt, and jacket to "jump" mine.

A solid level of difficulty at the least.

My Daily Driver had a Bosch relay on it too, I made it convenient enough that I could reach it from the drivers seat and it worked great in times of need. My hard start relay was only in addition to the factory system..................sometimes the car started normally, sometimes not. I just reached back and pushed the button, kinda like John is talking about doing............'cept with a relay to avoid the high current running through any bulkheads more than needed. The VW bunch are a pretty vibration prone vehicle, and If there's a way to avoid the extra danger, I think I will use it.

It's is not, it isn't ain't, and it's it's, not its, if you mean it is. If you don't, it's its. Then too, it's hers. It isn't her's. It isn't our's either. It's ours, and likewise yours and theirs. -- Oxford University Press, Edpress News

My house was originally designed to be heated with oil. So I heat it with oil. The boiler also has a wood burning option, so I could do that too. But I think it's too messy and too much work. I'm lazy.

Please don't twist my words. I don't mean to suggest people to start using hand cranks on cars that never had them from the factory.

I mean keep the essential parts the way they were designed to be, from the factory. Think twice about seemingly brilliant new ideas, that people often misleadingly call "improvements".

Funny, our '59 with a six volt system, including all lights, has perfectly visible lights on it...after I fixed the wiring issues...

You must know that I had 'real' Harleys. All mine were kickstart. Even when I got a new-fangled '78 1/2 Super Glide (FXE) I installed a kickstart and threw the electric-foot into the trash.

Don't come to Minnesota!

Like I said.. I did just that for a year... rain or shine... because the starter was broken and I discovered it was cool to use the hand crank. Which I fabbed myself.

Still, I'm a wimp. What can I do :)

I guess that's the reason your ancestor's didn't get off their asses to move to Winona, Minnesota USA. :) It was hard work.

More Finns have moved to Minnesota than minnesotans (or americans in general) have to Finland. :) My ancestors.. I don't know my family history too far back, just that we were merchant sailors and had a big fleet of ships and shit. And islands. And mansions.

And then King Alcohol took it all away. That and gambling. The usual story.

My grandparents from mom's side were fishermen. Dad's parents had a small grocery store, and grandpa was a metal worker. Tool maker to be exact. Mom carried on the skills of the hand, but dad has been helpless until a few years ago when he discovered power tools. :)

Me, I just ruin everything I touch.

And I'm a wimp.

Well, I'm sick to death of the political atmosphere of the USA. I figure that fifty-eight years of dealing with it is enough. Can I come over there? Can I bring all my stuff?

You just say that to keep us off-balance. :)

Sure.

My house will even be empty all through September. Easy start for you.

:) Somehow I feel it may not be a good idea

Heh heh

with a genuine Bosch relay...

forget flame war Jim this could be the start of world war 3 and you would only have your self to blame.

Tim, I am about your age, actually a year older, but you are lying about 54 you are a year older then that, ha. Hay I know the route. Yes as we get older a bit more safety in our lives. Like Bonds vs. Stocks, you don't get the same returns but you can sleep at night. Jan, you have never been firing on all cylinders since I know you and the few you are firing on you use nitro for fuel, that's what the pinging is from :). Joe
