Possible to use Z bar on '60 Bug on '68 Pan

Aug 15, 2003 2 Replies

Another '60 question. My pan is off a ;68 and the swing axle has the mounting points for the rear Z bar, which is missing. Would the body of my '60 need to be modified in order to accept the Z bar? In the few pix in the BBB it looks like part of the Z bar protrudes through the wheel well of the car. Is that so?

Jan, is that area reinforced? Or is it just two holes in the sheet metal? I can always drill some holes and use the grinder to cut a hole in the wheel well. The cars a Frankenstein anyway, what with its clipped and then rewelded front and back ends, on a '68 pan with type three rear brakes, a 1600 dual port and a freeway flyer tranny. What's one more modification!?!

In that case I'll forgoe it. I have enough work to do on that car as it is.
