Bump stops & MOT

Aug 07, 2005 2 Replies

It's that time again, and I've been too busy to do stuff before the price rise :(

Anyway, crawling underneath shows up some things that need attention:

Rear bump stops - brackets have rusted and one is missing. Are they a requisite for the MOT? I'll do them in any case eventually, but she's been running fine without so if they're not essential...

She seems to have had some sort of retaining strap round the prop shaft at one time. I think it might be there to stop the thing flailing about in case of failure, but the bracket has rusted and the strap is hanging loose by one end. Again, I can see the point, but is this an MOT failure? If not' I'll remove it and replace it in due course when I've some time. I'm most unlikely to break the shaft as it's fairly new and I'm not doing anything stressful like off-roading at the moment.

All thoughts appreciated (as ever).

Simonm.

Don't need bump-stops any more ...

Remove it completely - not required
