Ford Radio Code - locked out

The stereo in my Fiesta hasn't worked since I bought the van. It's a standard Ford 2015 radio cassette and when switched on it asks for the code. I was told that the code is on a sticker on the stereo, so I removed it, and whilst there's no obvious 4-digit code that is the security code, it won't let me type it in anyway. The four dashes are not flashing, they are permanently on.

On one random occasion they did flash and I was able to enter a code, but thought "oh it works ok, that's fine, I'll do it tomorrow" and that hasn't happened ever since.

Is it locked out of the mode whereby it actually lets you enter a code, and is it possible to get a Ford dealer (or radio specialist) to unlock it?

FWIW I've tried unplugging all the power cables etc., then reconnecting them and it doesn't do any good.

Got locked out of one of these in a works transit once. Took it to a local car audio dealer. They unlocked it and gave us a copy of the code for a fiver.

Think you have to leave the power on for half hour or so and it should let you enter the code. However, I'm pretty sure you won't find this written anywhere on the unit - it would be a bit pointless from a security point of view really. :) Any of the radio specialists will be able to unlock it for you for about £20. Also try something like

where they'll unlock itfor £9 apparently but make sure you can get to the enter code stage first. Ifound a forum where they were giving unlock codes for free on a Googlesearch the other day but beggared if I can find it again. :( Dave

Well, you say that, but my 6006e (6-CD changer) that I had in my Mk5 Fiesta Van had a sticker on it with the code on - I think the general school of thought is that they put that on so you know what it is first time you install it, then you read the manual and it tells you how to change it. Or something.

Heh - that's the point - it's a crappy standard Ford stereo that's only worth £20!!

Always the way. Anyway, I'll leave it turned on for half an hour tomorrow (as someone else said you need to do that) and take it from there.

Cheers,

Peter
