Yes and no. There will still be speed cameras around both static and mobile and such a system could prevent them going 34 in a 30 and getting a ticket because apparently looking at your speedo is more important than looking at the road ahead.

Some engines can take this - if a medium engine can take 300 - 400* more RPM I'm sure that a small lorry diesel can take similar overrev treatment

We're not going to have zero collisions realistically, but by reducing the mean speed of vehicles as you say the severity and the chance of an accident occuring at all are reduced significantly. I read somewhere that even a reduction in the mean speed of vehicles of 1 mph is shown to reduce the level of accidents.

Look - this is the real world.

Take one important aspect of driving - setting speed appropriately - out of the hands of the driver, and you can *guarantee* that they will pay EVEN LESS attention to their surroundings.

Don't even think about quoting HGV limiters as a response, because the skill and attention levels of the average truck driver - yes, even including the paddies and eastern europeans - is LEAGUES ahead of the average Nissan Micra-shod grandma or Vectra-man.

Hmm, still a horrible interface IMHO, and although it's easy enough to click select all and click 'set' when it asks which groups to follow up to, it still mangles the new followup header. Could be something I'm missing but it seems awkward as hell. As for what you 'should' be using, it's a case of whatever suits you best. I'm not in a position to comment as I've always loved Agent. Out of respect for the authors it's one of the (very) few pieces of software that I've paid for. I'm not so keen on version 2 however.

That is not to say that paying is compulsory of course, astalavista.box.sk is a still excellent. (Don't go there using IE mind you..)
