Fiat Sceicento Sporting

Go to bed, let us never speak of this again.

*CHEEKY WELSH MANC BASTARD*!!!

Agreed.

However, I'm currently dislinking my ESP on hilly roads. If you crest a sharp hill on a bend (of which there are a rillion around me) then the ESP instantly whips 10mph off your speed - and if you're nicely setup for the corner, knowing full well you have zero traction as you crest the hill, then you suddenly have way too much lock on, and you have to ease off to avoid walloping the inside of the bend. Hmmmm.

SteveH has two penises? Is this a welcome side effect of driving Alfas?

This is just the craziest debate ever.

It's all well and good arguing that the Ka is s*it - but you seem to be trying to suggest the Fiat is good ?

They're both nasty horrible little tinboxes, in which every journey is about as comfortable as a needle in your eye. Nobody cares which is better, cos they both suck :)

Hope that helps.

The point is that the Cinq. is an absolute hoot to drive on twisty roads as you can thrap them to within an inch of their life and they don't break, plus you're not in license losing territory. They do exactly what they say on the tin.

Whereas the Ka is a total hoot to drive on twisty roads and will do 100 mph down them?

You really should try some modern Fords, Steve.

Instead of slagging them off after "a ride in someone's Mondeo", or "I owned a Fiesta and an Escort"

They are very, very good cars, it's just the two or three you owned were possibly the worse cars in Fords history.

It's like saying "I'll never drive an Alfa because I drove an Arna in 1983 and it was s*it", or "I drove a Fiat Croma once, the Coupé turbo must be utterly pants"

I like Italian cars, I've owned lots and chosen quite a few as company cars for my own use. (6 Alfas, 3 Lancias, 4 Fiats), but to blindly ignore the company that makes some of the best handling and driving mainstream cars in the world - Ford, is madness.

The Focus handles better than the Alfa 147, for example. The Fiesta handles better than the Fiat Punto The Ka is better than the Seicento.

Just because you like Eyetie stuff shouldn't blind you to facts.

I thought the Ka was also guilty as charged in that category ?

So you find them appetising at some other times?

That's bad though. It means you have to do 100mph to have fun, and will probably lose your licence. Much better to have just as much fun at legal speeds.

Christian.

Bollocks.

Bollocks.

HTH :)

What, 'helping to save the endangered tinworm species, from extinction'?

It's not just about ultimate handling. It's the whole package. That's where the Wops score points over just about everyone.

The styling, the sound etc, the way a lot of Wop cars make you *feel* like you're in something special.

Ford just can't compete.

I've driven the top of the range Ka... it was s**te.

I have... those are s**te.

I've owned loads, some of which I'd have again.

The Ka, is s**te IME.

-- JackH

Well it clearly depends on your own perspective!

Christian.

ROTFL

Sorry Steve, much as you're a mate... that is s**te, especially with regards to nigh on everything Fiat turn out right now.

I disagree.

And what's more, they tend not to have catastrophic engine failure, due to burning off too much oil.

Yes, owners should check it, as it's an known issue, but given they don't have to on most of their contemporaries, not least Fords, which, in years gone by were notorious for oil leaks / engines suffering premature wear due to oil starvation, says so much - they've learnt, Alfa, selling exactly the same engine configurationed cars, haven't.

Hah - 206 is far more competant up the Reighton back road hill ;)

Yea i'm sure the Panda/Multipla make you feel like a driving god :)

Ah, but the Ka does that too ;)

The Fiat range is mostly a bit crap at the moment - but there are some real stars in the range. Like most models of the Panda and the Stilo Abarth.

Everything from Alfa is just that little bit more special as an overall package than it's competitors.
