can a 215/45R17 be used to replace a 225/65-17 tire

You could have bent the hub. It's easy enough to check with a dial indicator. Remove the wheel and caliper and use the lugnuts to hold the rotor to the hub, Indicate the rotor. Then remove the rotor and reinstall

180 degrees from where it was and reindicate. From this you should be able to determine if the hub is straight or not. If the hub isn't straight, you'll never get the car smooth at speed but can still be smooth braking.

When I shift my 92 Maxima from park to drive it sometimes hesitates for a second or two before engaging the first gear. Otherwise, the transmission is fine. Nothing out of the ordinary once the gar is moving. It has only 60K miles, the transmission fluid is fine and at the right level. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a slow leak in a radial tire mounted on an aluminum alloy wheel rim. The car is a Maxima 2001. Should I have the alloy wheel rim cleaned and the tire remounted. Will this cure the problem? Thanks.

I just got a mast for a '96 last month from Courtesy Nissan. It was $29.88.

I have a '02 Maxima and it seems to me that the SES light comes and goes as it wishes. The first two time it came on obviously I was little worried and rushed it to my dealer.

First time he did minor checks and said there was nothing majorly wrong. Second time he did some serious testing for emission leaks and things (made me pay $50 bucks) and told me that my car had a very minor leak in the emission system. He told me that I need to replace two values which would cost me about $300. But he was not completely sure if that will do the trick, so I procrastinated for a while and the light went away. It was 3-4 months ago.

Since then the SEC light comes and goes once a month or so. There is no pattern to it, though I am thinking it may be due to the outside temperature variation but I m not sure.

just my 2 cents, J

I would have the tire remounted. Make sure the leak is by the rim, not in the tire itself.

HI, I had the same problem about 6 mths ago. I checked the gas cap and it was tight. I took it to checkers for a diagnostic and received the same code as the person below. I went to the Nissan dealer and they said they'd have to run their own tests. I decided against it. It went off after I changed places I got gas. I have always used the highest octane rating no matter where I filled up. If I add a fuel additive it goes off. I have now been getting gas at Chevron and it has been off ever since. If I change and get gas where I use to it will come back on. I don't understand how it could be the gas station. Everyone I know gets gas at the same station and they don't have problems with their car. I'm sure it has to do with the car but now the light is off so I'm not sure the dealer will be able to figure out the problem. I think my gas milage is lower than it use to be. Then again with gas prices constantly increasing maybe it just seems like I'm filling up more.

OH well, I called my local Nissan dealer and they said $30 for the mast and $30 to put it on unless they have to take the power antenna assembly apart to get better access to it. So I'm headed out there to get it installed.

First, make sure the valve is not leaking.

Does anyone know if 2000 I30 has an incabin microfilter? I just got an coupon from the dealer that says that the filter is optional in 2000 Infinitis. Can I install or replace the existing one? Any one has instructions on how to do it? I found some instructions for Maxima

I had the tranny on my 90 gxe rebuilt last year (140,000 mi.) right about the time it was doing the same thing as yours. After the rebuild, the shifting was very crisp, but when I first start it up (cold) it also hesitates to drop into 1st gear from Park. I took it back to my rebuilder and after a couple of days, he discovered that another customer w/ a Stanza (same basic transmission) was doing the same thing until the tranmission controller (electronic controller unit) was replaced. So what I do is wait a few seconds until I feel it drop into 1st when cold before hitting the gas. If I don't, I find myself starting in 3rd gear and I know that's not good for the tranny. So when that happens, I immediately shut it down, restart and then let it drop into 1st. As long as this happens, there's no problem during drive time. I won't replace the tranny controller until it gets REALLY bad!

Don't know where the quality question is coming from. Sold my 92 Max Se at

110,000 (great car) and bought and 04 Max Se. After 18 months and 20,000 miles it has been absolutely trouble free.

I have a lightly driven (approx. 85000 km) 95 Max. I've been told that I should get the timing belt (and while I'm at it the water pump also) replaced. What think you, is this really necessary?

Well, in the US all 95 Maximas have a timing chain (not belt), way too early to replace that. I would think too early for the pump also...

I suspect Canada has the same 3 liter V6 (VQ motor).
