They're all still valid with new tyres all round. It's just a special case.
Anyway, that's the recommendation of the tyre fitting industry - and since overall it leads to less tyres (marginally) being fitted you'd not expect 'em to suggest it without good reason.

Don't worry - proper clutch control and machine sympathy come with time

It comes with four brand new tyres?

What because of the aqua planing? I did post on here a while ago about the lack of traction in wet weather. I came to the conclusion that there were two options, drive slow or get new tyres.
I have thought about rotating them, but I'm worried about my rear tyres aqua planning and spinning my car :-o.
I think I'll go for some cheaper ones then. Probably Uniroyals, but maybe continental's. I've got continentals on the front at the moment.

You won't be living at all if you drive around with bald tyres.

Not to mention the kid you run over. My wife hit one on Monday - got away from his mum and ran out right in front of the car. Luckily - unlike many drivers on that road she was going very slowly 'cos she'd seen the pedestrians on the island and dropped to about 15mph. By the time it happend it was more a case of him running into her than the other way round[1]. However if it'd happened on a wet day she'd still probably not have stopped in time and even if she'd not injured him the police would still have looked askance at the bald tyres.
[1] Grazed his elbow. His mum came round the next day to see if the wife was alright and to apologise for letting the little blighter get off the lead.

Recently, it's becoming very very hard to tell.
On the bright side, I missed the ongoing saga of the f*cked Fiat, gave me a warm glow of familiarity when I got back online :)

Gosh, you need new tyres.
When it's wet and you're stopped at a junction do you feel that you have a binary accelerator & clutch?

Nah, don't think I've been over 50mph. It happened once at a little over 30mph (less than 35mph) going over a roundabout. It was straight over, not around it, but there was still a bit of steering to go around it. I may've hit a small puddle though. Usually my car just understeers badly in wet weather though. It 'bounces' at junctions if I take them fast. I know this isn't aquaplaning, and it's probably normal actually. Oh yeah and aqua planing's when the steering goes as light as a feather and the car just goes straight.

No, my clutch control is quite often pretty good and I am sympathetic toward my car. When I wheel spin on wet roads it's just normal driving, not heavy acceleration.
My dad thinks wheel spinning in wet weather's normal, he says it can happen to him too, but his clutch is very dodgy though. Every time he pulls away the whole car jolts and the engine labours. Halfway through a trip I told him to stop doing it because it was really annoying. He told me that there's oil on the clutch and it's not his fault. I asked him why he doesn't sort it out, and he said 'why would I want to do that? :-o. It's unbelievable!

Peter (petermcmillan snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.com) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :
And you're worried about whether anything less than top-spec branded expensive tyres will be suitable?
You really need to get a grip on reality.
