To get back to Peter's original question..... Pirelli's on an Italian car makes sense to me, even if it doesn't need them. However, I fit cheap tyres to my 740 estate, and don't notice a difference in wear, stability, cornering etc etc. Last time I bought Pirellis, two of them blistered, one actually broke it's steel belting, so I'm not too impressed with them. Mebbe Pirellis are suited to cars under a certain weight !!!!!! Volvo's dont pink either btw...........................

Marangoni are a cheaper Italian alternative.
Going to see if I can try a pair on the 155, as the Italian car press really rate them.
My local tyre place did me some on the Ka. Roughly the same price as Uniroyals, a bit more dry grip, a bit less wet.
