Don't use any gear higher than third. Remove all the interior trim and spare wheel, and don't carry fat passengers. Oh, and go on a diet yourself.

Mark W (s@o) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

It's a Paxo. Fat passengers are de rigeur if they're female, mid-teens, scantily clad, and upferit in return for a MaccyD.

Strangely no, even when people have told them where he lives and what he does. I expect they're all too busy checking speed^H^H^H safety cameras.

It amuses me that all of these people are taking the piss out of VTR's.

I wonder if most of them have actually driven one???

I'm sure most havent, as if they had, then they would realise that they are one of the best value for money cars on the market for the level of performance you get out of them and the insurance bracket that are in.

Plus, what's the point in going for a VTS;

  1. They arent that much quicker
  2. They are double the insurnace group of a VTR at 14!
  3. If I could afford that type of insurance I certaintly wouldn't go for a Saxo VTS, more like a Clio 172 Cup, Civic Type-R or Impreza Turbo!

You'd pay more still for a group 17/18 car, unless you're old enough that the insurance group becomes less important. I pay about 600 quid a year for a Type-R, I expect something a couple of insurance groups lower would only be marginally cheaper.

No, we're taking the piss out of you for driving a Paxo and wanting to fit a bolt-on chav gimmick to it.

No, I never said I was going to fit an induction kit. Just curious. And you seem to be misspelling the car model, its actually "Saxo".

Yes, I think I *might* be aware of that, thank you.

Saw one the other day with a sunstrip reading, in very large letters, "Maxo"...

Heh, course it is. My car would spank yours in any sort of 'race'. Even for an 18 year old the cots of a car plus insurance is probably less on mine than a VTR/S. I can think of plenty of other cars that are better value for money too with the same or better perormance. Your living in a dream world mate!

...yeah, I'm living in a dream world.

Name the cars then? And what car is yours and how much insurance do you pay?

Nah i'm with the new guy on this one - Saxo's are under-rated by people who have never driven them because of the rep (not that i'm saying you personally have never driven one, just a blanket statement :) ). A Saxo VTR does feel a lot quicker than it is, which makes it more fun that it ought to be, and point to point down some twistys they're a good car.

In news:d3paod$mej$ snipped-for-privacy@hercules.btinternet.com, Andy K decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows

It's amusing to irritate Saxo owners.

Yes, and a turbocharged one, which was semi-amusing, but still slow.

Um, not for the money they cost they're not.

One of the reasons Saxos are so villified is because people bought brand new VTRs for the so called "Free" insurance.

Instead of buying a second hand *real* car.

Neither would I.

I'd buy something a lot older and a lot more fun to drive..

The Capri is loads more fun, RWD, and costs me £222 a year to insure FC. Servicing costs are minimal.

The Merc is loads more comfy, quicker top end, and costs me £515 FC. Servicing costs are minimal.

The Porsche is insane fun, 158 mph - 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds, cost less than a new Citroen C2 VTR, won't depreciate, sounds better, is on classic insurance (£222 FC for SD+P), costs about the same to service as a new Golf.
